What makes me come alive?
Mikaela has a strong foundation in addictions counselling and has supported children, youth, and families through her work with Big Brothers Big Sisters. Through her role with the Okanagan Hockey Academy, she has worked closely with athletes, supporting both their personal development and performance-related challenges, including confidence, performance anxiety, and navigating the demands of high-performance sport.
Her clinical experience also includes working with individuals facing substance use and compulsive behaviours, as well as anxiety (including OCD), trauma, depression, and significant life stressors.
Mikaela is particularly passionate about supporting youth, adults, and high-performing athletes as they navigate identity development, performance pressures, confidence, and life transitions both in and outside of sport. She integrates her background in athletics and counselling to help clients build self-awareness, resilience, and the mental skills needed to perform and function at their best.
Outside of her clinical work, Mikaela enjoys coaching hockey, spending time with her dog, and reading.
