I’m Barbara Egan, RCC-ACS, owner of Alive Counselling and an Approved Clinical Supervisor registered with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). I’ve spent years in the therapy room as a working clinician, and since 2019, as an Approved Clinical Supervisor. Supervision, to me, isn’t just about what I studied. It’s about the lived experience of actually being a good counsellor and a good supervisor: knowing what it feels like to sit with a case that scares you a little, to second-guess a treatment plan, and to slowly build the clinical confidence that comes only from doing the work. I aim to bring that lived experience into our supervisory relationship, not just my training, to help you hone your process as a therapist and learn to truly own the chair.

I founded and now own Alive Counselling, an award-winning clinic in Kelowna, British Columbia, with a team of 18 therapists serving children, teens, young adults, adults, couples, and families. I have held my designation as an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) since 2019, working with both graduate students and licensed therapists. I also hold a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) designation with the MHSP credential in the United States, having passed the U.S. National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) board exams. My own clinical work draws from a variety of modalities, including CBT, IFS, EFT, SFT, Systemic, attachment-based, trauma-informed, Narrative, and Somatic approaches, along with others I love working within, tailored to who you are and who your clients are.
I also spent years as a sole practitioner before growing into a multi-therapist clinic, so I bring real, lived experience in private practice business mentoring, not just clinical theory.
