Cammie is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and works with individuals and couples.

Hello! My name is Cammie and I hold a Masters Degree in Arts and Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor.

I have also been working as a Registered Midwife since 2007 and although not limited to, I have a specific interest in perinatal mental health, family transition, processing birth experiences as well as grief and loss.

I truly value the connection that I develop with my clients and assist them to come to their own solutions with gentle assistance and guidance.

I also consider the whole embodiment and aim for a holistic approach that encompasses us as individuals. I appreciate how every person and situation is unique. I strive to create a safe space to support validation and empowerment.

Get to Know Your Therapist: Cammie

Hello!
I’m Cammie. I grew up in Toronto and have lived in beautiful Kelowna for 15 years with
my husband, 2 children, dog, cat and chickens!

I’ve been a Registered Midwife for the last 18 years and am now transitioning into the
Counselling profession! I’ve loved working as a midwife but see how much personal life
and situations can really impact one’s life. I’ve wanted to take this path to be able to
help people on a much deeper level than what my training has taught me so far.
My mother has a PhD in psychology, and I’ve always been intrigued by her profession,
and also in awe of her ability to effectively listen, validate and help others, including me!
I’m drawn to helping people come to their own realizations and better understandings of
their situations to become their best self! I have a true passion for working with people
and find it so rewarding to see positive change in their lives.

I want the client to come to healthy realizations and create goals for successful change,
therefore focussing on modalities such as Solution Focused-Brief Therapy, Acceptance
Based Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Psychodyamic Therapy and Dialectical
Behaviour Therapy. I think it is so great and positive when someone comes to their own
conclusions with a little bit of guidance!

I love that counselling helps to foster a trusting and genuine relationship and create a
safe space to discuss the hardships as well as the good. I truly value creating a warm
and relaxing environment to be able to openly and honestly converse. Of course, one
must feel comfortable and confident in their therapist and finding the ‘right fit’ is very
important.

A bit about me: For fun, I like to play my guitar or ukulele, do yoga, go for walks, paint,
cook, be out in nature or on the water, and of course, spend time with my family. I really
value journalling and keeping my own ‘gratitude journal’ so that when times seem tough,
I remind myself of what I have to be grateful for. It’s not always easy, but it reminds me
of all the blessings I have in my life.

If you are at all curious about counselling and haven’t yet sought to do so, I would ask
yourself… how can I be happier and be a better version of myself? What am I worth to
myself and/or to my family? We take so much pride in our physical health, and yet
oftentimes our mental health seems to come last. How much better could I function in
the world if I was able to work on some of the issues I have in my life? Life is
challenging and there are people to help; to help consolidate your thoughts or help to
make a plan to move forward for positive change.
I am here to help and would love to be a part of your healing journey.
