this is me:

Danita Harvey, Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) & Coach

What makes me come alive

I believe in the strength of the individual and appreciate how people develop resiliency and learn ways to cope with the stresses of life.  I work with adults using the trauma informed practices of EMDR and brainspotting to overcome barriers and to improve performance in all areas of life.

Who is Danita tho?  Strengthened from a childhood in the frigid prairies of Northern Saskatchewan & Alberta, Danita has leaped from the world’s highest bungee jump, captained a racing sailboat around the SF Bay, surfed one of the largest pipelines, army crawled to track lions across Kruger National Park, motorbiked through the rice fields of Indonesia, stared down the barrel of an AK 47 while being robbed, reveled in the mist on the top of Waynapichu, sat in silence for days at an Indian Ashram, and fought a forest fire from the back of a pickup truck.  She has guided yoga and meditation for physicians, lawyers, and CEOs; helped her clinical clients manage the triumphs and catastrophes of life; served as an advisor to partners of a major Canadian real estate firm, and worked with athletes during transition to define their identities.  Danita has experience as an athlete, competing at the University and National levels and has the unique ability to empathize with athletes during times of performance expansion but also during transition, injury, and personal stress.

Danita is a doctoral candidate for her work in the maintenance of a distinct personal identity being an indicator of relationship satisfaction and how to define or maintain that distinct identity through relationships.  She examines the connection between relationship satisfaction and the individual performance in a relationship.  Danita is trained in EMDR and Brainspotting therapeutic modalities as well as CBT, SFBT, attachment and narrative therapy.  Danita was a provisional psychologist in Alberta before moving to British Columbia and has Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) certification
